Dr. Charles Cheatham is an American trained Family Physician whose strength is in his compassion and his emphasis on listening to his patients. He has more than 25 years of medical experience having graduated from medical school at the University of Tennessee in 1990 and having finished residency in Family Medicine at the Southern Colorado Family Medicine Residency program in 1993. He has practiced Family Medicine in his home state of Tennessee and as a humanitarian aid worker in Africa and Asia. Most recently he trained Family Physician residents as a faculty member in Memphis.
Dr. Cheatham is an expert in adult and childhood medicine and treats all of the medical and psychological problems that are commonly seen by a Family Physician. He has special training in obesity and diabetes control. He practices evidenced-based medicine, meaning that he only prescribes treatment regimens that have been proven through scientific studies, but he is also a holistic practitioner, meaning that he always considers physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual aspects of disease when addressing a patient’s needs. Regarding obesity, Dr. Cheatham is one of the very few doctors in the UAE who is board certified through the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).
Dr. Cheatham continues to maintain his license to practice medicine in the US as well as the UAE and recently re-certified to be a diplomate of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
